Ujala Asianet Film Awards 2010 on Asianet

Date & Time: January 30 &  31 (Saturday & Sunday) at 17.00.

The 12th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards 2010 were distributed at a glittering function recently held at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. More than 40,000 entertainment enthusiasts including prominent persons from the film industry and socio-cultural spheres witnessed the show.

Universal Star Kamala Hassan was felicitated by KS Sethumadhavan for his outstanding contributions to Indian Film Industry. The event was attended by cross section of stars from South Indian film industry and was rich with colourful programmes performed by leading artistes from the tinsel world. Jayaram, Allu Arjun, Vivek, Khushbu, Sundar C, Mamtha Mohan Das, Devayani, Rambha, Samvritha Sunil, Jagathi Sreekumar, Bala, Sukumari, Sheela, Deva, Lakshmi Sharma, Suman, Muktha George, Ambika, Menaka, Fazal Gaffur, Sabu Cheriyan etc. were some of the personalities present on the occasion.

Pazhasssiraja won the award for the best film, which was accepted by its producer Gokulam Gopalan and Ranjith won the award for the best director for the movie  Palerimanikyam. Mega Star Mammootty was honoured  as the millennium actor for his outstanding performance in various movies. Mohanlal won the best actor award for his performance in Bhramaram and Ividam Swargamanu. Kavya Madhavan fetched the best female actress award for the film Banaras. Actress Lakshmi Rai received the popular actress award for her performance in various movies. Oscar winner Rasool Pukutty was honoured at the occasion for his overall contribution to the Indian Film industry. 

Others who won awards include Prithvi Raj (Youth Icon of the Year), Sreenivasan (best character artiste- male), Shwetha Menon (best character artiste-female), Lalu Alex (best villain), Jagadeesh (best actor in a comic role), Jayasurya-Roma (best star couple), Vayalar Sarath (lyricist), Deepak Dev (music director), Shankar Mahadevan (playback singer- male), KS Chithra (playback singer-female), Baby Nivedita (child artiste), Ranjith Shankar (Script Writer), Ajayan Vincent (cameraman), Vijay Shankar (editor), debut artistes Nishan, Archana Kavi, Sarath Kumar, Manoj K Jayan and Kaniha (Special Jury awards).

Vineeth, Divya Unni, Remya Nambeesan, Meera Nandan, Sana Khan, Manikkuttan, Rajith Menon, Sarayu, Sruthi Lakshmi, Shankar Mahadevan, Akrithi Kakar, Madhu Balakrishanan, Jyolsna, Rahul Nabiar, Sreekumar and comedy artistes from TV/ Film industry entertained the huge crowd.
