WOMEN’S WORLD AWARDS 2009 on Star World

STAR WORLD presents an exclusive telecast of the fourth annual Women’s World Awards on Sunday March 8 at 21.00 and repeat on Monday at 00.00 and 12.00.

Since 2004, this gala ceremony has celebrated women around the world who are role models for millions. Whether they’re entertainers, politicians or peace activists, these females have been honored for their humanitarian, charitable and social contributions.
Previous recipients of this award include Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, Mary J Blige, Claudia Schiffer, Whitney Houston and Vivienne Westwood. These powerful women present a message of inspiration and hope to females around the world.

“On a global scale women are more important than men”, explains Mikhail S. Gorbachev, President of the World Awards. “They bear many responsibilities and very rarely receive the recognition they deserve. It was the time to establish an event to honor exceptional women who have changed our world for the better.”
Over 500 million people were able to follow the last Women’s World Awards ceremony. This year’s gala will be held in Vienna, Austria, where 12 extraordinary ladies will be honored for their achievements. The 12 categories include World Achievement Award, World Actress Award, World Fashion Award and Woman of the Year.
