THE CHOSEN ONE: ALICIA KEYS on [V] International


[V] features accomplished R&B songstress Alicia Keys as this month’s Chosen One. A multi-talented singer-songwriter from New York, the 28-year-old Keys was born to become a star. Enrolled at the Professional Performing Arts School at the age of 12, she majored in choir and began writing songs at the age of 14.

Keys released her debut album, Songs in A Minor, in 2001. Selling over 12 million copies worldwide and featuring the smash singles “Fallin’” and “A Woman’s Worth”, the album propelled her to become the best-selling new R&B artist of the year.

Her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003) also shot to the top, debuting at number one on the Billboard chart. In 2007, the hard working Keys displayed even further artistic talent, making her big screen debut on the film, Smokin’ Aces. In the same year, she released her 3rd studio album, As I Am, once again winning multiple awards and commercial success worldwide.

Her latest album, The Element of Freedom (2009), features the hot new tracks, “Doesn’t Mean Anything” and “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart”.

Having sold over 30 million albums worldwide and winner of 12 Grammy Awards, Keys has quickly established herself as one of the best-selling and most talented artist of her time.
