After captivating the country with  Salsa, Ballroom, Bharat Natyam and B-boeing dancing, Zee TV is all geared up to take the nation by storm with melody, rhythm and rhapsody. LULU Sa Re Ga Ma Pa — the Mecca of soulful singing is back in a new avatar! Called Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar this season, it will be an embodiment of its mother brand but with an aim to give the country its very own singing icon — a Singing Superstar — who has a voice that we can proudly say is ‘Music Ki Nayee Awaaz.’ Premiering on August 13, 2010, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will retain the quality singing it represents, but will have an entirely new, young and contemporary look and feel.

Right from the set design to the selection of the anchor and the judges, have all been done keeping in mind the new identity of the pioneering show that has created television history for the past 15 years. Aspiring singers have always considered this stage sacrosanct and have toiled hard to be selected as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is the most credible platform to get a good break in the music industry. After rigorous auditions across all major cities in India (Indore, Bangalore, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Baroda, Kolkata, Nagpur, Mumbai, Jalandhar, Lucknow, Jaipur and Delhi) and abroad (Dubai-Middle East), New York, London, Australia, Bangaldesh and Pakistan), 18 strong contenders have been chosen to compete against each other for the coveted title of LULU Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar.

This is the first time Zee TV shall be conferring a title to the winner — 'A Singing Superstar'. A singing superstar is one who has complete command over the basics of music — ‘Sur’, ‘Taal’ and performs with a voice that holds the audience captive and mesmerised.

To carry forward this musical legacy for another season, Zee has very carefully selected mentors who are tantamount to the qualities that one is looking for in a Singing Superstar. Daler Mehndi — a pop star, singer and a performer par excellence who commands expertise over ‘Sur’. Musician duo Sajid Wajid — known to catch the audience’s pulse, the brothers have given chart bursting numbers in every movie. After having successfully mentored the contestants of Saregamapa Challenge 2007, the ultra cool twosome, Vishal Shekhar, return for their second innings on the show. They are known to churn out trendy compositions and expressive renditions in every movie. As host this season is the very talented and charming Purab Kohli.  Zee has been a second home for Purab since his childhood. After delivering a hit high school series, ‘Hip Hip Hurray’, Purab is very excited to anchor a prestigious show like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
