Bavaria's Magic Kingdom Premieres on Jan 20  at 21.00 (UAE)

The stunning and dramatic mountains of the Bavarian Alps offer enormous challenges to all those who live there. During winter, the kingdom is locked shut by ice. When spring sun unlocks the grip of ice, the doors of the kingdom are thrown open, for animals and people to reap the mountains' riches. Summer storms bring floods that scour the land. Farmers risk these dangers to take their herds to the highest pastures to graze the sweetest flower-filled meadows, from which come highly prized cheeses. The high alps are guarded by black feathered choughs, and inhabited by eagle owls, chamois, wild cats, deer, alpine ravens and rare treasures like the alpine salamander.

Predator CSI: Man Eating Lions Premieres on Jan 20 at 22.00 (UAE)

Tanzanians are under siege from a plague of man-eating lions. The East African republic is home to more than one quarter of the world’s lions, but until recently, attacks on humans were far and few between. Entire prides now consider humans fair game; over six hundred people have been killed by lions in Tanzania since 1990. This program explores how and why lion behaviour is changing to targeting human beings as a prey source, and joins a lion hunting team out to capture a man-eater who has been terrorizing the region for too long.
